Overview

The ATHE Level 5 Certificate in Management for Health and Social Care is a 30-credit qualification designed to equip individuals with essential management skills, either for those aspiring to or already in management roles within the health and social care sector.

This programme, regulated by Ofqual, enhances your management expertise and prepares you to succeed on both domestic and international stages. Its modules are carefully structured to address any knowledge gaps in health and social care management.

The skills you acquire will enable you to work effectively with both adults and children in the community. Given the growing demand for qualified care professionals, particularly post-pandemic, now is an excellent time to embark on a career in health and social care.

Note: No additional study materials are provided for the units, though all necessary forms and guidance for assignment submission will be available.

Guided Learning Hours:

Guided Learning Hours (GLH) are an average of how much time a tutor, trainer, workshop facilitator etc., will spend and guide a learner to help them complete the learning outcomes of a unit to the appropriate level.

The Total Guided Learning Hours is 120

Remember that one mandatory unit and one of the two optional units must be completed within this time.

Total Qualification Time:

It estimates how long it would take a learner to accomplish the level of achievement required for the certification to be provided for the qualification; i.e. to attain all learning outcomes.

Total Qualification Time (TQT) is made up of the GLH and all other time taken in preparation, study, and any other form of participation like assignment or assessment, in education or training that is not under the direct supervision of a lecturer, supervisor or tutor. TQT calculates the credit value of this qualification as one credit equals 10 hours of learning.

The Total Qualification Time is 300 Hours

The Total Credit Value is 30

Method of Assessment:

Learners must submit a written assignment for each module through an online portal. No formal exams are required for any of the units.

Who is this course for?

The ATHE Level 5 Certificate in Management for Health and Social Care is designed for:

  • Students aiming to progress to the final year of a Bachelor’s degree in management within healthcare
  • Individuals seeking to advance their careers in healthcare management roles

Requirements

  • Learners must be 18 years or older
  • Hold 5 or more GCSEs at grade C or higher
  • Prior study in healthcare management or related subjects at level 4 or higher
  • A level 4 qualification, such as an ATHE Level 4 Diploma in Management for Health and Social Care
  • Other equivalent international qualifications
  • Proficiency in English is required, with recommended standards as follows if English is not the first language:
    • IELTS 5.5
    • CEFR B2
    • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score of 162 or above
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic score of 42-49

Mature students:

Mature students may use relevant work experience to meet the entry requirements. This may include paid or unpaid work, responsibilities, or professional qualifications, which can be recognized through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
